With his portrayal of a villainous character, he garnered a significant following among wrestling enthusiasts. Even today, fans reminisce about his iconic rivalry with the legendary Hulk Hogan. Additionally, the Iron Sheik, alongside Nikolai Volkoff, triumphed at WrestleMania by clinching the WWF Tag Team Championship.
In recognition of his significant contributions and the immense fan base he attracted to the world of wrestling, the Iron Sheik was rightfully honored with an induction into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame. In his later years, he made memorable appearances on The Howard Stern Show and gained recognition as an internet personality. Prior to his wrestling career, Khosrow Ali Vaziri even served as an assistant coach, training the 1972 USA Olympic Wrestling Team.
