The vast wetlands of haors hold more than just natural beauty—they are also steeped in legends of haor ghosts. According to local folklore, these ghosts wander the haors, taking the form of eerie lights that sway and dance in the darkness.
The lights, called "Bekti Bura," are said to be the souls of drowned fishermen or travelers. Although regarded with fear and caution, the hair ghosts are a captivating and haunting aspect of Bangladesh's rural landscapes.
