After all, the more soap you use on your hands and body, the cleaner you will be. That may be valid for you, but it's not the case for your washing. You may believe that adding more detergent would make your clothes cleaner. Is this correct? Labels on laundry detergent tell you how much to add to a load based on its size; adding more than this means it won't dissolve completely in the water. It is going to leave stains on your clothes and be a lot harder to remove.

In the end, this residue absorbs more dirt, so you'll have to wash it more often. Thank you, just no thanks. It's why there are directions – someone has spent the time to figure out how much water you'll need to get a decent wash for your clothes. They understand well what they are talking about! If your dress still has stains after being washed, apply a stain remover to the affected areas. Let these soak into the fabric for a few minutes beforehand washing or bathing in the washing machine.
