A Police Search Discovered Horrors

Upon Timothy Evans's initial confession, the police commenced a search of the drain at Rillington Place, expecting to find a decaying corpse if his account held. To their astonishment, there was no sign of a body.

During a subsequent search, however, the police made a grim discovery. They uncovered the lifeless bodies of both Beryl and Geraldine. The bodies were wrapped in a tablecloth and haphazardly hidden in the washhouse in the garden. Now, the authorities faced the daunting task of determining which of Timothy's conflicting accounts was accurate and whether he was truly guilty of the double homicide.
