"The Bouquet" Tradition
Family celebrations in Turkey are brimming with unique customs, but perhaps one of the quirkiest takes place at weddings. Unlike many other countries where the bride tosses a bouquet over her shoulder, and the one who catches it is deemed the next bride-to-be, Turkish brides have a different tradition.
In Turkey, the bride engraves the names of her single friends onto the soles of her wedding shoes. The woman whose name fades first is believed to be the next in line to tie the knot!
