7. Hollyhock family
Located in Los Angeles's East Hollywood district, Aline Barnsdall Hollyhock House was built for an oil heiress in 1922. It was initially intended to be included in an arts and theater complex but never done. The house was Wright's second California project, but he was busy designing the Imperial Hotel in Japan so that he couldn't oversee the construction of the house.
Hollyhock House has a simple exterior and is arranged around a courtyard. The outer walls are tilted 85 degrees backward, giving the house a Mayan appearance. This impressive structure has been included in the list of top ten homes in Los Angeles. Today, Hollyhock House is located in the heart of Los Angeles's Barnsdall Art Park.
