30. William and Mary Palmer House

In 1952, the William and Mary Palmer House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for a University of Michigan economics professor and his wife. It is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, on three lots. It's conveniently situated less than a mile from the University of Michigan. In 1949, the Palmers bought the property and employed Wright to design the home after being impressed by his Affleck estate.

This building, another Usonian house, is 2,000 square feet and located on a hillside. Brick and red cypress are the primary building materials. The house does not have any right angles, like many of Wright's Usonian designs. It has a triangular shape, with three wings reaching out from a central entrance. The property also includes a back garden house that is home to a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed collection of furniture.
