29. David & Gladys Wright House
Built-in 1952, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed this home for his son David and his wife, Gladys, in the scenic Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona. The impressive building is built of concrete blocks and is 2,500 square feet. Facing Camelback Peak, it sits amid orange groves. The house is specially constructed to catch the wind and cool the home down in a spiral shape. It is one of three projects shaped like a spiral by Frank Lloyd Wright and is considered a precursor to the Guggenheim Museum.
Thanks to its groundbreaking architecture and stunning interior, this home is widely regarded as Wright's final residential masterpiece. David and Gladys Wright remained in the family until their deaths; David was 102 in 1997 and Gladys at 104 in 2008. The David & Gladys Wright House is on the market for $12.9 million at the moment.
