28. Eugene A. Gilmore House

In 1908, in Madison, Wisconsin, Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to build the Eugene A. Gilmore Building. Often known as the Airplane Building, this home is located close to the Law School Campus of the University of Wisconsin. Although it has more of a vertical feel than most Prairie Style homes, the structure falls into Wright's Prairie Style category.

The sharply-pointed balconies that project from the home's dining room give it an appearance similar to a plane preparing for take-off, from which the Airplane House moniker originates. The living rooms are situated on the first floor, offering residents an outstanding view of the surrounding area of Madison, Wisconsin, and the Four Lakes.
