21. Nathan G. Moore House

This home is unusual since his client did not initially grant Wright creative freedom. In the Tudor Revival theme, the house owner, Nathan G. Moore, demanded that the home be completed. Wright agreed but spent several years disliking the place because it was so purely historical. A fire in 1922 allowed Wright, in his style, to redesign the Nathan G. Moore Building.

The updated structure evoked Tudor architecture, as well as Mayan, Sullivanesque, and other exotic areas. Home elements were comparable to previous Wright works, such as the Imperial Hotel and the House of Hollyhock. The House of Nathan G. Moore was opened briefly for visits but is now a private residence.
