Many people are afraid of coming into contact with bacteria to fear the bacteria that make them sick. Our bodies need bacteria to function properly. With those taking antibiotics for medical conditions, this is particularly true when they kill both good and harmful bacteria from the gut flora. The soil contains a type of bacteria called Mycobacterium vaccae, or M. vaccae. So when you dig into the dirt with your hands, it's getting that bacteria into your system, and that's the perfect thing. Even M. Vaccae pills are sold in stores to balance your gut bacteria when you have digestive problems.
