12. Lessen Osteoporosis

A condition that weakens the bones is osteoporosis. It is much more common in older people, and the culprit is why many individuals eventually break a hip. Gardening, with low weight bearing practices, is like doing a light workout. This makes the bones stronger and helps to stop osteoporosis. It might be a good idea to persuade them to do so if your parents or grandparents are not already gardening.

To deal with the condition, the Osteoperosis Society in Canada recommends gardening to individuals who already have osteoporosis. They also set out a comprehensive guide with tips on preparing yourself and what to do for gardening to get the most benefits from the practice. Be sure to read the guide if you already have osteoporosis, since it contains a lot of useful information that can help avoid accidents.
