9. The Unaffordable Dream Home
Since 1997, HGTV has conducted sweepstakes with great prizes. Each year, the channel has HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, where a great designer could receive a grand prize, along with some other lavish rewards like cars and boats. In 2004, the Wall Street Journal reported that every home winner could not afford to keep the house. The main reason for the difficulties is the enormous tax liability that they would hae=ve to pay. During the first eight years of the competition, only one winner can retain ownership.
