25. A Dangerous Situation
He was a young firefighter in the 1980s when he received an unknown medical call. When he and his companion arrive, a worried gay man answers the door. They inquire about the issue, and the homeowner leads them to the bedroom, where another man is sleeping under the sheets.
“His companion orders him to remove the coverings and show the firefighters,” says the narrator. He lifts the covers with reluctance, revealing a fishtail sticking from his backside. They ask what happened, and he explains that they used a frozen fish as a toy, which thawed up and the spiked dorsal fin became lodged. My father summons assistance, and the chief arrives at the house. He enters the bedroom.
