26. Santa Claus is Coming to Town
We've grown accustomed to the legend of an old guy coming down the chimney to put presents under the tree in Santa Claus stories. However, the actuality of a man coming into your house late at night is genuinely quite frightening. A man tried to play Santa in the following story, and it backfired spectacularly.
"Rescued a guy who was trying to surprise his sweetheart by climbing down the chimney unannounced on Christmas." Her son had picked up on something before she did. So he lit a starter log in the fireplace, which would have killed him if the smoke hadn't started billowing into the living room. He went to all that bother, poor guy.
