45. Don't Overlook Small Details
Sometimes, people skip fixing or improving a small detail in their home because they're working on the assumption that no one will notice. It could be a crack in the wall, cheap doorknobs, dim light bulbs, and more. Even if it's true that no one or not even noticed, all these little details will seriously add up. People will walk into the room feeling uncomfortable or dislike, even if they can't say why. It continually happens during real estate home tours when people are looking to buy a new home. They can say "no" to a home only because it feels done cheaply. Even if it's subconscious, people can still feel love and care while decorating the space.
The benefit of knowing that the small details matter is that it works perfectly well for people on a small budget. If you can't afford your home's makeup, make small changes to suit your needs. For example, my parents recently painted their baseboards and steps white. In the past, I have said it is unnecessary because, from a distance, everything is clean and white. But the new paint makes everything stand out and makes the house look more unique and well cared for.
