9. Negative Space 

Some people worry about having too much negative space in their home. In case you didn't know, negative space is essentially an empty wall. For example, if you are trying to hang artwork or create a gallery wall, some people want to fill every square inch. But there's something to be said about leaving enough space between the object and your artwork to make a real impact.

A great example of this might be a piece of art hanging on your fireplace. The rest of the fireplace can be brick or a plain wall, but it's more elegant and makes a bigger statement if you're just sticking to something surrounded by negative space. On the other hand, some people try to create a full vignette on their fireplace above the fireplace. If it's not done correctly, this can get very busy and not as stylish as a single piece of art.
