23. The “Stars” of the Room
This next piece of advice from her Masterclass comes from an interior designer named Kelly Wearstler. She states that some furniture pieces are the star of the space and need to draw attention to items. You can see in the picture above that the enormous stone slab on the wall instantly catches your attention. That is the star of this space. Then your eyes may work their way down to the second, third, fourth, and so on, other details of the room.
Your guests will do this in a room, no matter what it looks like, just like looking at a picture or painting. Look around your house and wonder what appears to be the largest, most visible focal point. When planning your design, as the star of the show, don't make too many features fight for space.
