37. Don't Copy

Every seen a character in a movie who took the whole floor model from a furniture store and installed it in his apartment? If you think about doing that, we might need to stop you there. How many times you go to an interior decor store and say, 'I just want to take this whole room and place it in my home.' However, even though you're in a place where you can, you should never really go for it. The challenge here is while you might take some inspiration from them, do not make a carbon copy of it.

Firstly, most store displays are on smaller scales, and the size of a real house won't reflect it. You could begin by making an inspiration board on Pinterest. Pin on it several pictures of the same type of homes and rooms you're looking for, and the repetition of colors, objects, and furniture pieces that catch your attention could appear in the ild. When you have enough time to understand what you want, go ahead and buy those pieces that make sense of your home's dimensions. Before you can get it right, it takes a bit of trial, error, and a lot of measuring.
