40.Hellebore
Despite having names that sound like roses, such as Lenten Rose, Winter Rose, and Christmas Rose, the Hellebore is not a rose and belongs to the Ranunculaceae family, which does not include roses. Greens, beiges, browns, and other unique hues make up the flower shades of Lenten Roses, making them gorgeous flowers.
They bloom early in the spring and have evergreen foliage in some varieties. Since they are only hardy to USDA Zone 5, northern gardeners may have to cover these plants over the winter. Note on toxicity: Hellebores are toxic in all sections, and some gardeners can experience skin reactions.
