20. Furniture in Poor Condition
You should know that old furniture is hard to accept at thrift stores because furniture with chips, scratches, or stains will not be sold and is not worth accepting from a donor. Thrift store employees cannot know if a given item with a cushion is clean. They will be able to know if it has aphids or dust mites. Because a thrift store doesn't have the equipment to clean and disinfect furniture, it's not worth accepting dirty items. It may be difficult to break up with old furniture, but if it's in bad condition, consider disposing of it at the landfill.
