2. Convincing Yourself That Some Day, You Could Sell Something
In many Hoarders episodes, a lot of people believe that the items they have in their home will be helpful in an emergency. Before you assume what you know, you should do some online research to see how these things will work out. For example, there are many people out there who have kept their Baby collection because they think they will be millionaires. But don't always get the numbers you see on eBay at face value. Remember that just because someone lists an object for a lot of money doesn't necessarily mean that's what it's worth.
On eBay, you can search for items that have been sold successfully in the past. Pay attention to how often these items are sold. You can only find one of the things sold in the past year, even though 50 others are trying to sell it? Or is it something that is sold once a day? This will give you a good indication of the real value of your item. So this is not a good plan to get some emergency cash.
