7. Feeling Embarrassed to Have Friends Over
One of the telltale signs that you are becoming a hoarder is that you do not want your friends to know where you live. Whenever you watch an episode of Hoarders, there's always a best friend or neighbor saying, I don't know if they live this way! This is because a hoarder usually knows deeply that their way of life is shameful, and they become very good at hiding it from the world.
Whatever the reason may be, you don't have to live with so much fear and confusion. You deserve a full life, and that includes inviting people into your home. When you look at objects around your house, ask yourself what is really more important. Are newspaper piles more valuable than a friendship? And if your house is clean, what would you like to do? Try to feel pride in your home. Your surroundings often reflect your feelings within.
