4. Inquire about freebies with management.

3. Visit a variety of thrift stores and antique stores

When it comes to saving money at the secondhand store, the most excellent advice is to go to a different location. The store's owner or management is usually the one who sets the prices. Depending on where you go, this can be very different. Men's neckties, for example, were $1 each at my local Goodwill, regardless of brand or condition.

It turns out that in some businesses, the manager will look up the price of an item on eBay to see how much it sold for online and then price it accordingly. It is not a good offer for you as a customer. They'll make you pay near-retail prices for items that should be cheaper because you're shopping at a thrift store. So don't bother going to a store where the management has pointed out an eBay ad to show customers how much something costs. It's unlikely that you'll obtain a good deal. Alternatively, go to a different thrift or antique store.
