The Pop Star Behind Dr. Facilier's Look
One of the newest villains to join the Disney family is Dr. Facilier, the character from The Princess and the Frog. In the film, Dr. Facilier plays a witch doctor from New Orleans who dabbles in voodoo and other dark arts. The villain's inspiration came from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Animator Bruce W. Smith incorporated many of the pop star's moves and mannerisms into the character.
Smith used Jackson's thin figure and costumes to inspire the smooth-talking villain. This unique approach to character design pays homage to Michael Jackson's iconic style. It adds a layer of sophistication and charisma to Dr. Facilier, making him a memorable and captivating antagonist.
