Cup of Java
In 1696, during the early days of East Indies colonization, the Dutch introduced the coffee plant to the region. The soil in Java, a part of Indonesia, was exceptionally well-suited for coffee cultivation.
Though not native to the island, coffee became a prominent crop in Java. Over time, it became called "Java" because of its origins in the coffee crops shipped from this region.
