Upon discovering that Bulgarian gymnast Nikola Prodanov was set to marry long jumper Diana Yorgova. A Bulgarian diplomat proposed a unique idea: why not have their wedding in the Olympic Village during the Games?
And that’s just what occurred, despite the couple having already chosen a wedding date. Nikola Prodanov and Diana Yorgova got married during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Yorgova later clinched a silver medal at the 1972 Games.
