Altered Wedding and Honeymoon Traditions
Wedding customs in North Korea stand apart from the global norm, extending to honeymoon practices. Remarkably, newlywed couples are not granted a traditional honeymoon period. Instead, they are mandated by the state to resume work immediately following their wedding day.
Additionally, weddings cannot occur on the birthdays of current or past leaders. After the ceremony, the couple must pay their respects to the statue of Kim Il-Sung as part of the proceedings. The multitude of regulations encapsulating daily life in North Korea is indeed remarkable.
