Suppression of Creativity

The control exerted by the state over arts and media is particularly stringent in North Korea. Beyond the incident of the abducted South Korean director, numerous other accounts exist of creative individuals being detained or imprisoned.

Writers have been incarcerated for producing content that deviated from the officially approved tone. Similar to the case of the director, artists have also been detained and compelled to create works of art that align with the state's ideology.
