Generational Punishment
North Korea's criminal justice system mirrors the strict and uncompromising nature of the rest of the nation. Among the severe penalties that can be inflicted on those who commit crimes is implementing the "three-generation rule."
According to this rule, if an individual commits a crime, their entire family, spanning three generations, could be sent to prison. This includes children and parents. Essentially, this policy is designed to discourage individuals from engaging in criminal activities, as no one wishes to see their family members suffer the consequences of their actions.
