Bad Manager

Nadia Comăneci's struggles in America, exacerbated by her isolation from people she knew, raised concerns, particularly for Bart Conner. Determined to reconnect with her, Conner devised a plan to surprise her during an interview on The Pat Sajak Show in Los Angeles.

However, it soon became apparent that Constantin Panait, the man who had aided Comăneci in escaping Romania, was not the ally he seemed. Instead of being a genuine helper, Panait exploited her fame and designated himself as her "manager." He incessantly moved Comăneci around the country, lodging her in hotels and motels and booking any engagements that offered payment.
