French Foreign Legion Pioneers
This photograph displays the uniform of the French Foreign Legion pioneers during one of their traditional parades. The first thing that catches the eye is the axes they carry on their shoulders.
This is certainly not an everyday sight, and one would hope not to encounter someone strolling down the street with such an axe. It's likely for the show, as we assume they wear more functional uniforms when in the field.
