34. And then there's Door #2...

As a registered nurse, I cared for a person with paraplegia at home. She was lovely, and she was young. She shared a house with her lover and was plagued with UTIs. This isn't unusual; she had a catheter, which is difficult for this demographic. This patient told me about her sex life, and she mentioned that her lover also enjoyed the rear door. She is deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deaf Then it dawned on me.

So, that’s what I charted patient education was that day. I had to call her urologist and primary care to let them know we probably found the issue… We all tried to be professional but there was lots of awkward laughing.

So that's what I labeled patient education on that particular day. I had to phone her urologist and primary care physician to inform them that we had most likely discovered the problem... We attempted to maintain a professional demeanor, but there was a lot of awkward laughter.
