36. An eyesight deficit
I used to work in an optical shop.
A man comes in with a blurry vision. His astigmatism has risen by about three diopters. That's a shambles and shouldn't be allowed to happen.
The optometrist retested using a new kit. The outcome is the same. I told him to return in a week and we'd retest it.
We're looking at 4 diopters this time. They're completely taken aback. Recheck it, and then have another optician look at it. The outcome is the same.
They pervade many aspects of health, including smoking, drinking, and medicine. There was nothing unusual about it.
The optician inquires if he does this frequently. When he's stressed, he reportedly pushes the sides of his eyes together.
He's done it so much that the front of his eyeball has changed, and he compromised his vision.
We told him he needed to quit. We never imagined we'd have to tell someone else not to crush their own eyeballs.
I had to tell a kid not to gaze at laser pointers as well, but he was as stupid as a rock.
