3. Tennis Champion Gives Up His "Son Coll" Mansion
Boris Becker was a professional tennis player from Germany, and some of you may be familiar with his name. In 1997, he spent $598,000 buying a villa called Son Coll on the island of Mallorca, Spain, after winning many championships. Becker undertook significant improvements, including the construction of a pool, basketball court, and guest house. The municipal authorities, on the other hand, never granted him building permission. A fine of $255,000 was imposed on him and demolish all of the extensions. Becker, like many other professional athletes, squandered his money by not making wise investments. And the mansion was putting a strain on his finances.
Becker's mouth was sour as a result of his ordeal. He didn't want to dwell in that vacation property any longer, so he tried to sell it for $18.4 million in 2007. Becker then failed to pay his gardener and contractors for their labor, prompting them to file a lawsuit against him. If he couldn't come up with the funds, the Spanish government had the authority to seize his home until the construction work was completed.
