14.Villa de Vecchi is surrounded by a tragic mystery.
The "Villa de Vecchi" is thought to be one of Italy's most haunted Mansions. It was first constructed in 1854 by Count Felix De Vecchi. Because he was the commander of the Italian National Guard at the time, he was regarded as a local hero. Alessandro Sidioli, the architect, died a year before the house could be finished. This was interpreted by many as a negative omen. Before tragedy struck, the family only had a few years to enjoy their summer vacation house. When Count de Vecchi returned home one day, he learned that his wife had been murdered and his daughter had been taken. Many people saw him as a hero.
He searched for his daughter for the rest of his life. He committed suicide after failing to revenge for their killings. Count Vecchi's brother moved there with his family, and the family stayed at the mansion until World War II forced them to leave. The house has been abandoned since then, and it's been dubbed "The House of Witches." Except for the Villa de Vecchi, all of the residences in the surrounding area were destroyed by a massive avalanche in 2002. Some believe this adds to the proof that the house is haunted or guarded by a spirit.
