Owners take these dolls to monks for anointing ceremonies to enhance their spiritual significance.
During these ceremonies, it is believed that the doll becomes animated, providing a home for a wandering spirit and granting the Luk Thep a soul. Such is the belief behind the rituals performed to imbue these dolls with a spiritual presence. As a result, these dolls are treated as esteemed guests, even receiving their seats at restaurants and on planes.
