9. Set a standard when you get started

Regardless of what you plan for your window seat, you always want to start with the standard - especially if this is your first time working on a project. The building block you'll use with your seat sits behind a 15-inch high 30-inch wide wall-mounted cabinet.

This complete length means you can duplicate one unit for more extended windows or quickly convert to one company for narrow windows. You want to use the height as this is the chair's average height when the window seat is combined with its 3-1 / 2 inch-high sole. The center itself will be around 12 inches, and while this is uncomfortable for a regular chair, you'll add 3 inches by pulling the cabinet forward or according to your custom plan.
