This development left Johnny devastated.
Due to this situation, Johnny Carson imposed an embargo on Joan Rivers and chose not to communicate with her again until his passing. This ban persisted even during Jay Leno's time as the host of The Tonight Show. Sadly, Joan Rivers passed away in 2014.
