The Beatles
In 1966, The Beatles, often called The Fab Four, performed two shows in Manila and received a grand reception as if they were royalty. The Philippines' First Lady, Imelda Marcos, known for her extensive shoe collection, even hosted a lavish ceremonial dinner in their honor. However, John, Paul, George, and Ringo showed disinterest in attending the event and decided not to attend.
This decision triggered outrage among the citizens of Manila, and their anger led to a dramatic turn of events. The Beatles had to escape the country for their safety hastily. An angry mob surrounded them as they boarded their plane, resorting to physical violence and throwing punches. The situation was tense, and the band narrowly managed to leave the country, escaping any serious harm.
