12. Know when to distinguish
In most cases, Joanna advises people to keep a consistent style throughout their home, even in the bedroom. You don't want a room that looks like a modern industrial room, then suddenly turns a corner and feels like you're in a French Rococo place. However, in some cases, it should be different.
For example, if you've got a pool house, a game room, a finished basement, or a converted garage, you may want to give it a completely different look. Many also allow their kids to design the room in any way they like, even if it looks too classy compared to the rest of the house. This is perfectly fine. As long as you plan and do things on purpose, it will eventually succeed.
