Inventing Kettlebells and Words
The inventiveness of ancient Greeks extended beyond physical objects. They also contributed to developing the language and terminology we still use today. One example is the kettlebell. In the 5th century B.C., a prototype resembling a kettlebell, known as the Greek' Haltere,' was used to propel athletes in the long jump.
According to various research studies, these kettlebells weighed between two to nine kilograms and were utilized in the Olympic games. However, a kettlebell on display at The Archaeological Museum of Olympia in Athens, Greece, weighs 144 kilograms.
