A Spartan Child's Upbringing Was Defined by Rigorous Discipline
Spartans were notorious for their exceptionally strict parenting style, bordering on authoritarianism. Spartan children were subjected to a demanding regimen from a young age. Once a Spartan boy reached the age of seven, he was sent to a specialized military camp.
From seven to twelve, Spartan boys were prohibited from wearing clothing and had to endure this period of their lives in a state of nudity. They were expected to fend for themselves, becoming proficient in physical fitness, swordsmanship, and spear-throwing.
