Free libraries are a great way to offer a low-cost reading solution. Not to mention, it's just a great way to keep the community reading. This one was very beneficial to the community until it met a fiery end. The trashy part of it all is that someone burnt it down on purpose, too — it wasn't an accident at all! What could have been so tempting about burning down a free service that just offers reading material?
The destruction of a free library not only eliminates access to books for the community but also represents a complete disregard for the value of education and community resources. Such an act of arson is not only criminal but also deeply harmful to the community it serves. It underscores the importance of respecting public resources and the consequences of destructive behavior.
