Rainbows are known for their full spectrum of colors, so spotting an entirely red one feels impossible. That is what makes this photo so striking. A person out at sunset captured a rare atmospheric event known as a red rainbow.
This phenomenon can only happen when the sun is extremely low in the sky. At those moments, shorter wavelengths like blues and purples scatter away, leaving only the warmer hues visible. The result is a rainbow composed entirely of reds and golds. It may look unreal, but it is a real, natural marvel few people ever get to see.
