Guadalajara is Mexico's second-largest city and the birthplace of tequila and mariachi culture. The cathedral Archdiocese of Guadalajara, built out in the form of a cross and its surrounding plazas, is one of the most majestic buildings in Guadalajara. With several restorations, this cathedral has survived seven earthquakes while retaining the majority of its original architecture.

Visit the Hospicio Cabanas, which was established as a hospital, almshouse, orphanage, and workhouse, for more history.
