Step 3: Cut vertices
The next step to build a DIY dog house is cut vertices. The front panel (where you just cut a door) marks the triangle where the top will form the roof. Create a midpoint at the top of the dashboard - it's the top point of the dashboard. Place the edge straight on the board with one end at the center point and the other end 20 inches from the board's edge.
You can move the second gauge higher (up to 8 inches) for a flatter roof instead of a more angular top, but make sure not to push it down, which will hinder the door opening. To form an upside-down V, repeat the same steps on the other side and cut with a circular saw.
