Rent-A-Fish
For some people, traveling can be a lonely experience, especially for individuals who have to travel for work regularly. It may not always be possible to bring a family member, a loved one, or a pet. The Hotel Charleroi Airport in Gosselies (near Brussels South Charleroi Airport) sought to help solitary passengers tackle this difficulty.
They decided to launch a new guest amenity called "Rent-A-Fish." Guests can have a goldfish buddy for about €3.50 (around USD 4) per night. According to hotel manager David Dillen, the strategy has been quite popular with guests for several years. “It all began a few years ago. “As we often aim to do,” Dillen said, “the idea was to surprise our guests.” “Watching how people react to it is fascinating. They grin and take selfies to post on social media. Every week, we rent a few fish.” Do not worry, animal lovers: these fish are in excellent hands at the hotel!
