11. A concerned neighbor and a pointless homeowners' association

"I went away for a long weekend and left on Thursday after work. My water heater (in the attic of a three-story property) exploded late Friday afternoon, flooding my entire townhouse. When my next-door neighbor returned home from work, he discovered gallons of water pouring out beneath my garage door. When he realized I wasn't home, he tried to locate my phone number but couldn't, so he notified the HOA. The lady who answered indicated the situation would have to wait until Monday because it was 'beyond business hours (it was 5:01 at this time).' My lovely neighbor called the non-emergency police line, and they came out and turned off my street water. My ent was a mess when I arrived home on Sunday morning.

"Topping it off, I needed a dumpster on my driveway and a moving pod to remove what was left of my furniture while they started drying out the house, and the HOA paid me a visit." They didn't like how 'unattractive' my house had become, so they demanded that these items be removed from my driveway. I told them that they could f**k themselves with their concerns. I also got some retribution because I stopped paying their ridiculous fee. After all, they couldn't find me before six months, and I was relocating in less than five. I'll never buy another house with a homeowners' association."
