10. This HOA representative is in desperate need of a life

"When Dad retired, he decided to acquire a camper and travel. Mom was all over it, and they were both ecstatic. So Dad sells his F-150 truck, trades it in for an F-250 with a bigass diesel V8, buys a gooseneck camper, and waits for spring to arrive. It's no great concern if the camper is in the backyard and the pickup is in the garage. He receives a visit from a lady not long after. She has a list of guidelines from the HOA (which was established long after my parents built their house, around 15 years later when the development took off) that says dad can't keep the camper on his property because it's a 'eyesore.'

"Keep in mind that this camper is parked in the backyard, behind a 6-foot privacy fence. Sure, you could see it, but it was not like it was old and in disarray. So here we have my retired folks, living in a development with an HOA formed long after they built their house, and the HOA expects them to follow regulations that they did not agree to. He never moved the camper."
